Sigh, never going to beat last years post count at this rate! Slacking big time.

Here's a couple of Arrow sketches.

It was his 11th birthday on the 11th of Feburary. I forgot, as I do every year. In 2004, I first drew Arrow the Porcupine - a character designed to fit in with the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.

When I was at Uni, I created an Illustration to raise awareness about the White Tiger Fraud. The original project can be viewed by using my White Tiger Fraud tag!

Contrary to popular belief, white tigers are not a rare sub-species of tiger that require conservation and any zoo that implies they are is lying. These big cats are the result of a genetic mutation that was made common by mistreatment and inbreeding in captivity. You can find out more about white tigers and why you shouldn't support zoos that breed them over at Big Cat Rescue

A few people sent me messages asking about having the illustration printed on t-shirts. So, I reworked the image to be suitable and here we are!

There's a version suitable for dark fabrics, light fabrics and a textless version! Stickers are also available. :) Click here to visit the shop. 50% of all profits will go to Big Cat Rescue - a sanctuary in Florida who take care of mistreated big cats who came from the pet and circus trades and raise awareness to end the abuse of big cats in captivity.

Finished this cryolophosaurus! See my previous post for sketch.

I like how it turned out! Tried not to get too worked into details and keep it fast and simple.

I get a fair amount of people asking about the bleach painted t-shirts from the bleach spray and stencilling communities, so I'm making a post with all the info and examples in one place.

Yes, you can paint with bleach as if it were paint and any bleach will do!

All you need is:

  • some paint brushes you don't mind destroying. Bristles are going to snap or fall out completely.
  • a board, preferably plastic so that no bleach seeps through or into it, to place between the surface of the shirt (or other fabric) you're painting onto and the back of the fabric. I use a cutting mat.
  • an assortment of cups to make various concentrations of bleach.
  • old towels for the inevitable emergency "I spilt bleach everywhere!"
  • an old peace of fabric, preferably the same colour as the one you're working on, to test the strength of the bleach.
  • a hairdryer - to accelerate the reaction of the bleach and dry the design as you work.
  • and er, bleach. Any bleach will do. I just use toilet cleaner! I like the thickness... And water. More water than bleach really.
You need to work reasonably quickly and do the design in one go. If you leave the bleach in the shirt for long periods, it will eventually disintegrate the fabric.

Here's a video of me working on a t-shirt!
