I wanted a sketch of hylaeosaurus for my latest Kickstarter update - I'm doing little species spotlights for each of the featured dinosaurs. A difficult dinosaur to draw because I both know nothing about ankylosaurids and hylaeosaurus in general is very very poorly known.

 

This is the Victorian Megalosaurus restoration - the OG scientific dinosaur restoration, the first dinosaur named and described - next to a contemporary interpretation. The Victorian design was immortalised at Crystal Palace as one of the first life size dinosaur restorations. Obviously very wrong by today’s knowledge, but remarkable for the time, and I love him. :)

 

Finished this Therizinosaurus illustration. Had quite some trouble with this fluffer, but like hos it turned out in the end. There was a surprising lack of up-to-date paleoart by people who know way more than me, and I couldn't find a recent unquestionably trustworthy skeletal either... So I'm guessing there's just not much info on this beastie. Which is weird, because it's a very popular and well known dinosaur. I'll order some prints eventually to match my other ones for my Etsy store!

Started work on the next paleo print - Therizinosaurus! What a weird Dino. And having trouble with this because there’s honestly a real lack of details about this species specifically. Weird what dinos become well known.

 

A while back I thought it would be cool to experiment with foil printing and wanted to make some artwork for that purpose. I had this idea for a sort of spiritual T-rex sketch with the skeleton underneath. I like how it turned out and I've ordered a short run of prints for the store. I'll try and remember to show them off once they arrive!

 Finished the dilophosaurus painting! Had a hard time (as always) with the foliage. There's so much info out there on extinct fauna, but not so much on flora... But we got some cycads, horsetails some generic conifers among the sand dunes.

Here's the original sketches I did for this dilophosaurus design based on Brian Engh's content from 2020.

I've been wanting to do a paleoart painting - and since there's a bunch of accessible new information out there on dilophosaurus and I had a recent design I'd come up with for it, I decided it would be a good subject.

 

Finished the next dino illustration!! I've also just ordered prints featuring this guy and some of the other recent ones.

Merry Christmas Triceratops! As is traditional, obviously.

 

Working on another dinosaur in the style of the recent Allosaurus! This time, Triceratops! I don't illustrate enough herbivores.

 

I illustrated this ages ago but finally got round to making a pattern out of it! It's available from Redbubble printed on many different items!
