I really like how this photo study of Chaipas at Phantasiland came out. Tried to use a variety of brushes to convey the different textures.

Not happy with this at all, but oh well. Trying to do some more studies from references. Totally didn't plan this one out enough before I started detailing.

I felt like I should experiment and practise with the various brush tools in Procreate for the iPad Pro. I'm actually not a huge fan of their smart functionality that aims to recreate real media with tilting, etc. It just feels wrong and hard to manipulate, because you don't have the feedback of a real brush, you can't see the shape of the brush against the page.

But I still wanted to practise, so here's a speedpaint of a tiger from late last night, drawn from photo reference using the oil paint brush.

Digital speedpaint from photo ref that didn't go so well. For some reason I saved a wip with just hard opaque brushes so I thought I'd include that.

Speedpaint from photo ref. I don't do many digital paints from reference and the few I attempt I usually delete. I struggle to understand how to construct them and layer colours I guess. But here's a cave that is half decent. Need to do them more often.
