Experimenting with Prismacolor markers in a way that feels more natural to me. Blending with them isn't easy, and the fact that it's diffcicult to correct mistakes is even more eugh. Perhaps adding other media to work into areas futher would be a solution? I like having no lineart to accidently go over though.

Friend and I went up town to draw on location today. We didn't get much done. Lol.

And Rachel has been going on about markers a lot recently... Which made me keen to see what I can do with them. I think there is a lot of potential to using markers in more interesting ways than this.

Also, lol, just noticed he's tail-ness.

Today, you get a reasonably anatomically correct rex. With some colour added and everything. Amazing.

After several attempts at drawing it's feet, I gave up, realising that the legs were wrong and that's why I couldn't get the feet right. I don't like how long it's neck is, either. In fact, I can find little about this sketch I like, other than it's of an Acrocanthosaurus.

Well poo.

I haven't drawn today. But I did finish reading The City of Ember, which is one of the 3 novels in the brief for the next uni project.

So I figured I'd post my initial thoughts and ideas... The main thing that I found jumping out at me was the colours. Grim, orangy light. Colour seemed to be a key theme, due to the lack of it, especially with one of the main characters and her coloured pencils. Textures also jumped out. Damp, wet, slippery, cold, smooth, gimey, rusty textures. The main theme I interpreted seemed to be suppression of knowledge and a lacking desire amongst the majority of civilisation to learn. I particularly liked the "believers", who were referenced only a few times. They seemed to believe that the "builders" of the city would one day return to save them from it and saw them in a very God-like way. They refused to search for solutions to the problems in the city of Ember, because of their belief that they would one day be saved. Perhaps it's because I've just read The God Delusion, but all I could think of is religious individuals who suppress science.

This is my first attempt with Gouache paint. This was it's unfinished state yesterday evening. I really need to become a far quicker pai-... no, a quicker everything. Reading is quite high on the list of things I need to do quicker.

But I promised I'd try to update daily, so have this unfinished little green dragon in the meantime.

All my Uni work has now been handed in for assessment. I have a cool sounding summer project to be doing which is to be based on one of 3 apocalyptic fictions, but this isn't due 'till October. And with no plans until mid-June, I now have free time to get on with personal artwork again. So it's back to, hopefully, daily posting.

Here's some boring recent stuff to get started. I think there's quite some improvements on how I draw Morb now, but my Sonic sketches are really falling short. Check out the hands. Eugh!

The similarity in these two pictures of Arrow is quite funny. I need to get out of defult pose habits.
